Veronica Nnensa, Kuwala

Tell us about Kuwala!

Kuwala is an online boutique that curates unique and exclusive pieces from socially responsible fashion brands. Launched by friends and business partners, Freeda and Veronica, Kuwala’s aim is to make beautifully handcrafted pieces from talented fashion designers and ethical women’s cooperatives easily accessible to fashion conscious consumers.

What do you like most about being an entrepreneur?

What I enjoy most about being an entrepreneur is being able to wear many professional hats. With Kuwala, I have been able to get involved in web development, graphic design, marketing, and sales. Running a business has allowed me to gain new knowledge and experience in fields that I’ve never previously worked in.

Do you have a piece of advice for aspiring young men and women who wish to be successful in your field?

I would simply advise people to stay persistent. It’s a simple concept, but it’s something that people often forget. Giving up can be the easiest path, especially when things aren’t going the way you want them to. You have to keep reminding yourself of your ultimate goals in order to stay motivated to keep moving forward.

What do you like most about Manyatta?

Being able to attend Manyatta’s events has allowed me to meet like-minded professionals of the African Diaspora. From business connections to new customers, I’ve had great conversations at the Manyatta’s networking events. It has allowed us to have a network we can tap into for professional talents we need to grow Kuwala.
