Title
Community Outreach, Employment Services, Centre Francophone de Toronto
What do you like most about your job?
What I like most about my job is that it allows me to meet immigrants often with different backgrounds and nationalities, and I also enjoy the fact that we help Francophones find jobs. It is very rewarding.
Do you have a piece of advice for aspiring young men and women who wish to be successful in your field?
Volunteering! Not only did it expand my network in Canada, it also helped me show my skills and acquire new ones. When an opportunity presented itself within the company I was the first to apply, as I was already working there as a volunteer and I even got references from colleagues. Volunteering helped me start my career in Canada.
Can you tell us whether and how your background has been an asset in your career?
I immigrated to Canada 2 years ago. I have a background that spans different sectors, with a Bachelor in Hospitality Management and Master Degrees in SME Administration and in Marketing. Having evolved in professional environments in different countries, requiring me to interact with different cultures and categories of people, has helped me become more adaptable and, above all, more customer service oriented.
