Richard Meseko, Country Director for Canada

Richard Meseko, Country Director for Canada, WorldRemit

How is WorldRemit different from MoneyGram, Western Union and other competitors?
WorldRemit is shaking up the remittance industry with revolutionary thinking and a real understanding of its customers. Unlike traditional companies, WorldRemit is online. This has many benefits for our customers, including convenient access and low fees.

What was the most challenging and rewarding thing about settling in Montreal?
Montreal, once the commercial capital of Canada, is the largest city in the country after Toronto and a melting pot of different cultures, nationalities and languages. The city’s blend of old European architecture and contemporary design makes it a unique and beautiful place to live. As a predominantly French speaking city, Montreal has now become a most ideal location for WorldRemit as the company handles money transfers to many Francophone countries. Our site is available in French and Spanish and, from Montreal, we can easily connect with migrants in the uniquely close knit communities here.

What was the best business advice you have ever received?
There's no business advice that can’t be taken from the guiding principles of life. These are fundamental for all of our endeavours and we should be guided by them in all aspects of life.

What does "Manyatta" mean to you?
Manyatta is the traditional abode of the Masais. It’s a place of refuge, a place of peace and a springboard to endless possibilities.
