Tell us a bit about you (your personal experience).
I am Josiane Laure Modjom, also known as Malia Indigo. I was born in Cameroon and moved to Canada few years ago. Mother of two, I am a CPA with over 10 years’ experience, entrepreneur and Body advocate. I obtained my bachelor degree in accounting and management at INTEC Paris and recently completed the Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program. Self-motivated, I believe anything is possible with motivation, confidence and good organization.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
I would say my biggest accomplishment is to move to Canada (Vancouver & Toronto) with no English and within four years completed the Chartered professional Accountant (CPA) program, created a corporation and built a strong network.
What motivated you to start Malia Indigo Corp?
Malia Indigo Corp is a response to many frustrations and lack of exposure in Plus Size fashion Industry. Beside of my interest in numbers, I am passionate about art, fashion and body language. Few years ago I decided to become plus size model (as hobby). Slowly it became a profession (beside of accounting).
I noticed there were many areas in Plus Size fashion industry that needed some improvements. After studying closely the market, I decided to create an international online directory dedicated to professionals in Plus Size fashion: Malia Indigo Corp. The mission is to connect members, provide visibility and generate opportunities.
What really motivated me to start this adventure is the desire to make a change and change the game.
You meet someone who knows nothing about your business; how do you introduce it in a nutshell?
Malia Indigo Corp is a fashion network business dedicated to professionals in Plus Size Fashion. “Professionals” includes: Designers, models, bloggers, make-up artists, photographers and fashion brands. We operate through an online directory combined to a social media maliaindigo.com where our members get space to promote their works, connect to each other’s and receive opportunities from visitors. In order to provide maximum visibility, we promote them on all our social media platforms @maliaindigotheplus, organize campaigns and fashion shows with them as principal actors. It’s straight forward to become a member.

What is your vision for Malia Indigo Corp in the next 5 years?
I picture Malia Indigo Corp as central of information for all Plus Size needs in the next 5 years. A place where demands, offers and information meet. A Plus Size Fashion market.
Tell us about your first experience at a Manyatta Event.
So funny I have to answer this question (lol). For almost one year I was the one to ask this.
Two years ago, I heard about Manyatta and decided to attend one of their network meetings. As soon I got to the venue, I was positively impressed by the quality of the crowd and I said to myself “I want to be part of this powerful organization”. Same day
I expressed to the lead my desire to join the team. I volunteered as Public Relation and Social Media Lead for about a year at Manyatta Network. Great experience, professional team, great network.
What is your networking philosophy?
I believe we learn every day from different sources of knowledges and energies. And everyone is important. My philosophy: Building a network is a long process. Don’t except benefits right away, stay present and don’t discriminate.
